I have loved the ocean since I was a little girl and my family would drive from the Adirondack Mountains of New York to visit family on Chappaquiddick Island, MA and Newport, RI during the summers. I realized the extent of my passion when I had the privilege of spending a semester SCUBA diving in the Turks and Caicos Islands with the School for Field Studies when I was an undergraduate engineering student. I was able to bring my love of the ocean with my foundation in engineering through my graduate work in Ocean Engineering at Oregon State University.
I left OSU, and went back East to Cape Cod, near the place of my earliest memories of the ocean. I have lived coast to coast in NY, MA, CO, OR, and NC, but I found my permanent home in Seattle in 2006. I moved here with my husband and almost 1-year old daughter to continue to build my career as a consultant in Coastal and Ocean Engineering.
Twenty years of consulting has afforded me great opportunity to work on complex coastal issues across the United States and around the world including four of the five major oceans. Since 2015, I have focused my time and energy on giving back to the health and recovery of Puget Sound as this is our home.
I opened Blue Coast Engineering in June 2018 so I could balance the time I spent at work, at home and volunteering.
