Growing up in the Seattle area, I’ve always had a deep appreciation for the unique ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest. The Puget Sound in particular has always been a central, defining feature of the region for me, from its characteristic islands dotting the horizon to its iconic megafauna. Since learning about the unfortunate degradation of the Puget Sound and delicate ecosystems like it, I’ve always wanted to be involved in habitat restoration efforts, which is why I am very excited to be working with Blue Coast to help research and restore some of these incredible shoreline ecosystems. I am proud to be a part of projects that aim to support struggling Puget Sound species, gain knowledge to better understand these complex systems, and preserve their integrity for generations to come.
As Junior Scientist, I am directly involved in collecting, analyzing, calculating and visualizing data for projects at Blue Coast, as well as reviewing any relevant scientific reports and literature. I have worked with technology such as Real Time Kinetic Global Positioning System (RTK-GPS) and programs such as Excel, ArcGIS, and Google Earth Pro. Prior to joining Blue Coast, I graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in Environmental Studies and Geography in which I focused primarily on physical geographical processes and sustainable community development in Western Washington.
I look forward to continue working with the team at Blue Coast to promote habitat restoration efforts, scientific research, and environmentally sustainable practices within the Puget Sound.
