Originally from Maryland, I moved to NYC after graduating from UMCP in 1993. I finished a masters and PHD in ocean engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology in September 2001. I began my consulting career in late 2001 at a medium sized port engineering company in Manhattan where I had opportunities to work on large and challenging projects in the US and abroad early on in my career. In 2004, my family (including my three small children) moved to Florida where I took a position working for a larger civil engineering company in the Tampa Bay area. We left Florida in 2008 to move to Bellingham.
I love living and working in the Pacific Northwest. I worked for an environmental company in the area for about 10 years where I led coastal engineering, hydrodynamic modeling, and restoration projects. I also completed many complex modeling efforts for remediation projects in the PNW, British Columbia (Canada) and New York State. Jessica Cote and I crossed paths at various meetings and site visits over the years until we both ended up working together at a small natural resources company three years ago. The success of that working relationship led me to join Blue Coast Engineering (which Jessica started in May 2018) as an owner in January of 2020.
